4 Reasons to Drink Everything Through a Straw

Straws are underutilized methods of drinking common beverages. They can really help you keep your mouth healthier and allow your teeth to look better over the long haul.

If you are trying to keep your teeth looking nice, plus avoid issues like sensitivity, then using a straw may be your best option. Here are some reasons why straws should be a daily part of your utensil usage.

Straws Really Help Protect Your Teeth

First of all, straws allow staining beverages to pass by your teeth more quickly, often avoiding the front teeth entirely. This will reduce the staining they can do to your teeth, and keep your teeth looking whiter longer.

Second, straws keep sensitive temperatures from impacting your teeth. When you drink from a straw, your drinks go from in your lips to down your throat much more quickly. This helps keep the temperatures from impacting your teeth as much, allowing those with sensitive teeth more relief.

Third, straws protect your teeth by helping you drink faster. If you slowly drink a beverage, such as a sports drink, the drink has the time and ability to sit on your teeth and cause damage. The faster you drink, the sooner your teeth can recover.

Finally, straws keep your lips from touching anything that could get your mouth sick. If you happen to go to a restaurant that missed something on the outside of your cup that you didn't happen to notice, using that cup could get you sick.

However, if you used a straw, those germs would not enter your mouth and you would be spared getting sick.
