Maintaining a good oral hygiene is an essential daily routine every adult should not only consider but sustain.
It does not only keep your teeth healthy, but lessens bacterial buildup which causes bad breath. A good dental hygiene prevents the formation of dental caries, which leads to decay and teeth degradation.
As someone who juggles everyday routine, it is often easy to do things hurriedly. Most of the times, brushing is done ineffectively which leads to problems in the long run. Here are some of the most common hygiene mistakes adults do.
Not Flossing and Brushing Too Fast
Brushing your teeth every day is not enough to clean your teeth thoroughly. Food particles trapped in between can be hard to remove and causes the rapid proliferation of bacteria and germs.
Flossing is the only way to effectively remove stuck food and plaque buildup that cannot be reached by a toothbrush especially around the root of your tooth.
Brushing too fast is also one big problem for most adults who are trying to do everything on time. Dentists advise spending at least two minutes every time you brush your teeth to effectively remove plaque and bacteria from your mouth.
Using the Wrong Kind of Toothbrush and Not Brushing Your Tongue
This is one of the most common mistake adults make. People often think that hard bristles are more effective when in fact it can cause gum damage which leads to bleeding.
Using a soft-bristled toothbrush is far more effective because it can be gentle on the gums and cleans your teeth thoroughly.
Although toothbrushes are designed to keep your teeth clean, it can also be used to clean the tongue. The tongue collects a lot of bacteria which causes bad breath.
