Danger of Eating with Cracked Teeth

Cracked teeth can lead to a lot of problems. In the dental health community, we have what we call a cracked tooth syndrome, wherein a small crack not able to be seen with the naked eye can lead to quite a lot of problems.

Usually, these teeth with cracks are present with the teeth we usually use for biting and chewing, or where most of the brunt of both our bite strength and the food durability is highest, and that is the molars.

Fortunately for everyone, there is little to even no pain for cracked teeth, but that is where the dangers lie, since cracked teeth may go months and even years unnoticed, and then it is too late.

What Kind Of Cracks Can Be Present In My Tooth?

Cracks are categorized by their intensity, which can be minor or major. Minor cracks do not have any effect actually; they simply look a bit unnatural in your bright, white and even teeth. It is actually very normal to have cracks, which dentists aptly name as craze lines.

All you actually have to do is to brush more properly, since fluoride and other minerals will accumulate on your enamel and slowly repair it. You can also have a fluoride treatment to jump start the tooth repair.

The major cracks are something that should be prioritized and taken care of as soon as possible. This is especially true to molars, who take the brunt of our biting and chewing, which makes them prone to cracking.

Leaving a cracked tooth for a time can lead to serious consequences, like infection or having more cracked teeth since the force and pressure applied is no longer even.

If you or someone you know has just recently have teeth that are getting more sensitive to hot and cold temperatures and are having a few short bursts of pain, they may be having a major crack on their teeth.
