How Too Much Gum Tissue Can Lower Your Self-Esteem

How Too Much Gum Tissue Can Lower Your Self-EsteemThere are many reasons why you might not be completely happy with your smile. Whether it's because your smile consists of crooked, stained or chipped teeth, we have the knowledge and skill to fix your dental imperfections, so you can smile with confidence.

This doesn't mean only tackling issues with your teeth but also with your gums.

Why Excess Gum Tissues Lowers Your Self-Esteem

Sometimes you have so much gum tissue that it covers up a lot of your teeth. This may be because the way your teeth erupted through your gums gives you a gummy smile. While this can zap your self-confidence, it doesn't have to.

Treaty a Gummy Smile

One of the most common ways of treating a gummy smile is by giving you a "gum lift." Through this procedure we use a laser to painlessly lift and reshape your gums so they're a more desirable shape – one that uncovers more of your teeth.

In more severe cases we may need to surgically remove some of your bone and gum tissue. This will completely change your smile's appearance by bringing it into proportion in your mouth.

Typically, you won't need to take any time off work after you've undergone a "gum lift." This means there's hardly any downtime. There may still be some swelling and redness at the treatment site for which we can prescribe medication.

How You'll Benefit from a More Proportional Smile

When you have a more proportional smile your entire face's appearance will change for the better because you'll have a more balanced smile. This will do great things to improve your self-confidence for the better.

So, when you're ready to get rid of your gummy smile by having a "gum lift," pick up your phone and give our office a call so we can help you improve your self-confidence too.
