How Long Should You Wait Between Whitening Appointments?

Perhaps you've noticed a bit of discoloration or are concerned you may be overdue for another treatment.

Is there such a thing as visiting too often, or is it better to be proactive and visit as often as possible? Do you know how long between appointments you should wait for the next?

As a general rule, any treatment you get done by us should last for a year or more, depending on the type of whitening you had done and any other underlying issues that may have come up during the appointment. In between visits, you can always ask us about options you can use at home to keep your smile at peak dazzle, including any questions about frequency or safety.

However, if you've noticed a change in your smile, have discoloration that can't be treated at home, or just can't wait any longer to see us, the minimum period of time to wait is usually about six months – long enough for your teeth to recover from the previous treatment. After that, you should contact us to discuss your whitening options and potentially schedule another appointment.

Concerning Your Teeth

You should immediately reach out to us if you notice any unusual discoloration of your teeth or gums following a whitening treatment. In particular, if you notice that your teeth appear to be blue or even transparent, your gums have turned white or deep red, or you are experiencing any inflammation or bleeding, you should stop any home-whitening you are currently using, and promptly contact us.
