|For all of our discussions about eating healthy, and controlling what you eat, we know that there are some of you who don't believe us when we say that there are foods that are just horrible for your teeth.
So, at the risk of being redundant, we are going to let you know while there are some foods that love your teeth, there are foods that are just horrible for your teeth. Not sure what foods to eat or not eat? We have some suggestions for you here.
Processed food is food that is not in its natural state. Instead, it is cooked, packaged with additives and minerals, and placed on shelves. Processed food contains all sorts of things that are bad for your teeth: chemicals, fats and sugars. All of these chemicals contained in processed foods create a way for bacteria to produce acids on your teeth. Processed food is also horrible for your body. Instead of processed foods, you will want to keep your food as close to its natural state as possible.
While we all like to indulge in sugar every once in a while. However, you need to remember that while a piece of cake every once in a while, sugar every day is not good for your body or your teeth. The bacteria that are already in your mouth every day love to feast on sugar. The more sugar you eat, the more bacteria that are present in your mouth will multiply. All of the bacteria create acids that eat away at your tooth enamel.
Sauces and Thickeners
Many of us like to put sauces or gravies on your food. You need to be careful how much you use, because many sauces and thickeners contain sugar, especially if the sauces are sweet. Look for alternative sauces to use.
