Everyone Should Have Short and Long-Term Dental GoalsDental goals are important for dental patients. Dental goals are also important so that you can envision your future smile.

Long Term Goals


Your long-term dental goals are important. Do you want to keep all your teeth? If so, you will want to take steps now to have the best possible dental hygiene routine. Brush your teeth twice a day and floss at night before bed. Choose to eat nourishing food that will benefit your body and your teeth. These steps will help you avoid tooth decay and gum disease, which are the leading causes of tooth loss.

Do you want to avoid oral surgery? Make sure you take steps now to protect your teeth. If you play contact sports, consider wearing a custom mouthguard. We can make a mouthguard for you that will help to protect your teeth upon impact.

Short Term Goals


An example of a short-term goal is to have a cavity-free appointment. To be cavity-free at your next appointment you will want to have good oral hygiene in place before we see you next. If you do not regularly floss, perhaps you could start so that you meet your goal at your next appointment. Another way to meet your short-term goal could be to reduce the amount of sugar you eat so that your teeth stay healthy. Limit yourself to one dessert a week.
