Which Crown Is The Best Type For Patients? There are many different dental crowns available on the market these days. Every one of the crowns has its own set of benefits and drawbacks. How do you know which crown type is the best type of crown for your patients? Read ahead to know more.

What Are the Dental Crown Types?

There are three central dental crowns: all-metal, porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM), and all-ceramic or all-porcelain. All-metal crowns are made entirely of metal, such as gold or platinum. They are solid and durable, making them a good choice for molars or teeth that undergo a lot of wear and tear. However, all-metal crowns are visible and can stand out in your smile. Porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns offer the strength of metal with the natural look of porcelain. They are made by bonding porcelain to a metal core. The metal is usually a bright white alloy, which helps to make the crownless visible. However, some patients may still be able to see the metal line at the gumline. All-ceramic or all-porcelain crowns are made entirely from ceramic material. They provide a natural look that closely resembles your original teeth. However, they are not as good and strong as the metal or PFM crowns and may not be suitable for molars or teeth that undergo a lot of wear and tear.

Choosing a Dental Crown Type

When choosing a dental crown type, there are many options to consider. Factors like material, color, and durability will all influence your decision. However, ultimately the most crucial thing is to choose a crown that will best meet your specific needs and provide the overall results you are looking for. With this in mind, it may be helpful to consult with your dentist to discuss the various types available and find one that is best suited to your unique situation. Whether you prefer porcelain or metal, hardier materials like zirconia or softer ones like gold, or something else altogether, there is sure to be a dental crown that can help you achieve the results you want. If you consider getting a dental crown, it is essential to consult with our dentist to discuss the type of crown that is best for you.
