Where in the bathroom do you store your toothbrush? If you are like most people, you have some type of a container on the sink in your bathroom to hold your toothbrush. Did you know that this is actually not a good place to store your toothbrush? It could actually make you sick. Instead, you should store your toothbrush in the mirror or in a drawer in the bathroom. This keeps you healthier and allows you to not live in constant fear of what might be falling into the bristles of your toothbrush. Dangers of Leaving Your Toothbrush OutEach time the toilet in your bathroom is flushed, it releases a bit of mist up into the air. This mist contains small bits of anything that was in the toilet when it was flushed. This mist also floats around your bathroom and lands on anything out in the open - including your toothbrush. Do you really want those particles going into your mouth? We didn't think so. If your toothbrush was out in the open before now, you have two choices. You can either go out and buy a new toothbrush, or you can sanitize the one you have. By simply tossing your toothbrush (without the battery part if it is electric) into the dishwasher, you can get a lot of germs out of the toothbrush itself, but there is no guarantee that you will get them all. You should make sure to put your toothbrush behind a door that can protect it from getting as many germs and particles on it. This is what makes your medicine cabinet and bathroom drawers better options. You may still have some germs, but the number should be far lower than it was out on the countertop. For extra ideas on toothbrush storage, ask your dentist where he or she stores theirs! If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment, please call us at (315) 800-5020 today. |
