How Much Do Dental Implants Cost? Syracuse, NY
When it comes to restoring your oral health and facial appearance, dental implants may be the next best thing after your real teeth. They last for decades with good care, look just like your natural teeth, and don't require you to make any drastic changes to your overall diet.
The price for a single dental implant is around $1,500, but this does not take into account other expenses such as dental imaging, bone grafting surgery if needed, office visits, and post-op care. In general, the total cost per tooth for each dental implant is about $3,000 to $5,000. A patient who needs a mouth full of dental implants may be looking at an investment of about $50,000 to $100,000 - depending on various factors.
So why is there such a large discrepancy in the pricing for dental implants? This mostly boils down to the fact that no two procedures are the same. Dental implant fees are based on the patient's overall health, how much care they need, and the overall complexity of the work. For example, dental implants for the front teeth are usually more expensive compared to dental implants at the back of the mouth. This is because implants in the front of the mouth are more visible and require extra care.
So what's the final price that you may have to pay for dental implants? There is no one-size-fits-all answer here. You should call our experts Janice K. Pliszczak, DDS and Dr. Pliszczak and ask them about the overall cost before opting for the surgery.
The Cost of a Single Dental Implant
The implant itself may only cost $1,500. However, you're not just paying for the implant. You will also need the abutment (which serves as the interface between the crown and the implant) and of course, the crown (to serve as your replacement tooth).
All of these components have their own separate prices. Some patients may also require bone graft surgery or a sinus lift to address any problems they may have with their jawbone. In general, patients are required to have at least 1 mm of jawbone mass to keep the implant stable. This can also add to the cost.
All things considered, the cost of a single dental implant ranges from $3,000 to $5,000.
For obvious reasons, the more implants you require, the more you will have to pay. To keep costs down, our dentist simply places a bridge held together with two dental implants. This works if you are replacing three or four adjacent teeth. The use of a bridge can lower your costs and you may only have to pay about $10,000 for the entire procedure as opposed to, let's say, $20.000.
This is only possible because dental implants can support up to three or four neighboring teeth, making the process less expensive than if you had opted for four implants.
How Much Does a Full Mouth Implant Cost?
There are several approaches you can take to a full mouth dental implant; this also means a wide range in prices.
The most expensive option is to replace each missing tooth with a dental implant. This method will cost you $50,000 to $100,000, but you will get the best possible results.
A more affordable option is to opt for implant supported dentures. This is where the natural upper and lower teeth are replaced by two full arches of replacement teeth (after removing any remaining teeth).
The arch is supported with the help of four to six implants on each in the upper and lower jaw. This solution, also referred to as the All-on-4® Treatment Concept, typically costs about $20,000 to $40,000 for each procedure.
Miscellaneous Expenses
As discussed earlier, there will be other expenses involved in your dental implant surgery, starting with 3D imaging.
In order to capture as many details about your facial structure as possible, our dentist will require a 3D image. The goal of these scans is to get as many details about your teeth, tissues, nerves, bone structure, and gums. This is done with the help of imaging tests such as x-ray and CT scans. These tests will cost anywhere from $300 to $600, depending on insurance and other factors.
Never let your dentist proceed with a dental implant procedure without first obtaining a 3D scan of your mouth. The scans will help us customize the abutment of your implant for a snug fit.
Dentures are not a surgically intensive process. They are usually more affordable, depending on the materials you are using. However, dentures do little to improve your facial anatomy and will not prevent further bone loss. You will also have to adjust your diet in order to accommodate the dentures.
In general, the price of a single denture plate costs anywhere from $1,000 to $3,000.
Dental bridges are used to cover one or several missing teeth. They are generally cheaper because the procedure is not extensive. A low end dental bridge may cost you about $500, but a more expensive bridge can cost around $1,500. This doesn't include the price of the dental crown that attaches to the tooth. A crown can add another $500 to $2,000 per tooth.
By comparison, dental implants are usually more expensive. In terms of timing, dental implant procedures can take months to complete, compared to a dental bridge that can be installed in just a few trips to the dentist. In the case of a bone graft, you may have to wait an additional six months before the bone can heal for a crown to be added. This may be inconvenient at first because you will be required to extensively follow post-op instructions, but the long term benefits are worth the effort.
In general, we recommend dental implants for patients who are in good overall health. If you're uncertain which option is best for you, consider calling us at Janice K. Pliszczak, DDS at (315) 800-5020 so that our dentist can help you determine the best solution for your situation. |
