Crowns

Crowns are used to restore teeth severely damaged by fracture or decay. After the tooth surface is cleaned and prepared, the crown is placed to cover the remainder of the tooth. Read More About Dental Crowns

Bridges

Bridges are used to replace a missing tooth in both a cosmetic and functional fashion. A bridge structure is one or more artificial teeth anchored in place by natural teeth, crowns or implants, on each side of the bridge. Read More About Dental Bridges

Dentures

Dentures are a replacement option for missing teeth. A complete denture is a removable prosthesis of white plastic teeth in a pink gum-colored plastic base; the denture rests on the remaining gum ridge once all of the teeth in the arch have been removed. Read More About Dentures

Partial Dentures

A partial denture is a removable appliance held in place by gripping the remaining healthy teeth, usually with metal clasps or wires. Read More About Partial Dentures

Dental Implant Restorations

Dental Implants require the same maintenance as a normal tooth; brushing, flossing, and regular check-ups. Dental implants can replace missing or severely damaged teeth and can be used to secure restorations like dentures and dental bridges. Patients with dental implants often have greater satisfaction and results than with other types of dental restorations. Read More About Dental Implant Restorations.

Dental Implants vs Mini Implants

A dental implant is a screw-like post attached to your jawbone to act like the root of your teeth. The implants are mostly made of titanium, a lightweight and strong material. The main reason for placing dental implants is to replace your missing teeth. If you are booking an appointment at Janice K. Pliszczak, DDS, you may be wondering whether you should select traditional dental implants or mini implants. Read More About Dental Implants vs Mini Implants.

How Does a Dental Implant Compare to a Real Tooth

Dental implants have three components: a ceramic crown, implant post, and abutment. The post serves as the tooth root. The abutment’s function is to attach the crown to the post. The crown is the visible component of the replacement tooth. After surgery, the implant will fuse with the jawbone around it. The implant is even stronger than your natural teeth because it's firmly attached to the bone. Unlike natural teeth, implants aren’t prone to decay. With natural teeth, bacteria can attack your tooth enamel, causing decay or cavities over time. Read More About How Dental Implants Compare to a Tooth .
