We have invested in modern technology to help examine and craft crowns within the shortest time possible. Our staff is also committed to educating you about dental crown benefits and how you can care for them.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns refer to a tooth-shaped cap installed over the existing natural tooth to restore its functions and look and protect it. Dental crowns are mainly used on teeth that have undergone different types of damage. The damages can either be due to frequent grinding, accidents, or tooth decay. Crowns can be made from resins, ceramics, metal, or porcelain.

Placing Dental Crowns

The placing of dental crowns requires two appointments with a dentist. On the first appointment, our dentist will examine x-ray scans and prepare the tooth for installation of the crown. The tooth will also be trimmed, with the outer layer filed to create space for the dental crown. An impression of the trimmed tooth together with the nearby teeth is taken. A temporary crown is placed over the tooth to protect it while the permanent dental crown is being made. We have a modern dental laboratory that helps make a dental crown resemble the digital image produced from the scans.

The second visit takes place two to three weeks after the initial visit. Local anesthesia is first administered to help numb the area. It helps in ensuring you do not experience any pain. The temporary crown is removed, and the prepared permanent crown is placed. Our dentist will ensure the installed crown matches the color of the other teeth and that they blend and fit well.

Benefits of Ceramic Crowns

A dental crown helps in covering either part, or the entire, damaged tooth. It strengthens and helps improve the aesthetics, shape, and function of a weakened tooth, together with filling in the gaps created by missing ones. They also act as barriers against wear and tear. Crowns are an excellent option when it comes to the provision of an extra layer of protection for the tooth. By restoring the tooth functions, crowns ensure you can enjoy your meals again without worrying about the sensitivity of pain. They help restore both the decayed, cracked or chipped tooth.
